Texas Holdem Rules on Pre-Flop Play
Most poker players opt to play Texas Holdem poker. This card game affords more challenges and profitability. We can often win in this poker variant if we know how Texas holdem rules work. About more than half of the play in this game is basic rules and what's crucial is often the pre-flop play. So here are pre-flop Texas holdem rules.
Who plays dealer first? Among Texas holdem rules is one that makes the player with the highest single card play dealer first. Being the dealer has lots of benefits. One is, we get to act last, according to Texas holdem rules. Acting last helps us see how strong or weak players are. Dealers are also called button players - because the white button chip is placed in front of this player.
If we're the dealer the person to our left acts first. The player makes the small blind bet - which, according to Texas holdem rules is predetermined and half as much as the big blind bet. The turns go left in a clockwise direction. The next player to bet is the big blind. Two pocket cards or hole cards are then dealt each player face down. Basing on their hand Texas holdem rules say each player from left of the big blind, on their turn, decides whether to call, raise, or fold the big blind.
Calling means we match the big blind bet, raising means we put in more than what is bet for the big blind, folding means we quit, according to Texas holdem rules. If any player raises, the other players must call this new raised bet. Anybody may re-raise - bet larger than the current bet. When the big blind has not been raised, the big blind may check - meaning, the player opts for no raising of the bet. Texas holdem rules say we may raise only once, except when re-raised. When players have folded or called the current bet or raise, the betting round is done. We enter the flop phase.
When the flop comes, a card is burned. This means that, according to Texas holdem rules, the dealer takes off a card before 3 community cards are dealt face down. Simultaneously, Texas holdem rules require the dealer to turn these cards face up. Here we have the flop.
By this time we must have improved our hand in the play. Pre-flop play is when we must have positioned ourselves strongly for winning the pot. Thus, Texas holdem rules at pre-flop should be observed well and with an aggressive attitude.
